Disclaimer: Typos happen. Never played this, so I’m going in blind.

Drops you right into the thick of it, though running around is not always the most interesting aspect of anything. But it does show off the background and scenery.

Mostly, I’m figuring things out as quickly as the story tidbits drop - mostly this part may be notes/thoughts/guess work.
TL;DR sometimes I am too impatient for the game, it seems. Mostly info gathering and learning about the key players.
More under the cut

Video 1 - intro to game mechanics

The White Spire… stronghold of the ruling powers, possibly some sort of theocracy? At least from the imagery. *Replaces choral soundtrack with Hozier’s Take me to Church*
Combat - more like dogpile, right? More and more people split up between each battle - never a good idea.
Ombre is the city? Citte?
Lyssandra has some very personal issues with Avestus, current head of the governing group? Wonder what’s the deal with Amadea.
Cyrus seems like he used to be pretty high up in the White Spire guards. Also yeah, scripted to die. Sucks, but what have you. (This isn’t one of those stories where you DON’T get invested in any of the characters, right?)

OMG Lucia is like Galad. Too much a stickler to the letter of the law, not so much to the spirit of it. That’s the issue with lawful good characters sometimes, they get stuck in the system and end up enforcing things that don’t work.

Change needs to happen, and getting rid of the current leader could work - as long as there’s some plan in place to fill the vaccuum, along with a plan, otherwise it’s a rebellion/revolution that will end in anarchy, or very little change.

So yes,
change
needs

to happen.

Video 2 - worldbuilding and main story

Ships! (Stop quoting me game)

CIcero - Cyrus’ son/brother/cousin? (do C names run in this family?) Returning from exile - war criminal. Invited back for Reasons.

How does he know the seaman? Why do I want to know all the backstory when this is just getting started? Who’s driving this thing? Not me, obviously.

Yay, journal notes.

5 days - their week? Or just work week?

Seven sisters - like the constellation here?

Contadani* - people in the streets, a class description, or very much literal?

And mugged within 10 minutes. But it gets handled, once you get the overly keen ears of the thugs.

*maskless

It can get very poetic.

Wonder if the twins will become party members eventually? Not sure if they can fight, or will be non-combatants.

The masks are like some sort of magic pass? Are they sentient? What is this bond business? World building! *jazz hands*

Good to have friends in these places. And how well know was Cicero? It’s like he can’t go two steps with where the masked people are without being recognized.

Tristan is a nice name.

“always there, always watching” Big brother.

Oh magic masks. That no one seems to know how to make apparently. No dying people for these mascherines. Got it. Used for element control.

Prediction: Either their origins will be discovered, or they have to learn to do without. Possibly, someone learns to make them, that poor soul.

Cyrus is his brother. Who turned to the Maskrunners, though this seemed to have happend after Cicero’s exile? Or maybe not.

Hmm, wonder if he makes a good possible scapegoat if whatever scheme/plan is brewing goes wrong - or he’s just removed enough for them to assign him tasks no one else can do.

Spies! Of course. How extensive a network does the Registry have? (Do we get to meet any of them? (Knowingly, I mean))

Oh yeah, he’s expendable. But also has some useful connections/skills/training. I mean, two well trained inspecttores dead, when they need them for war, what a waste, right? Oh, and the other missing guy.

WHO, coincidentally was investigating how to make more mascherines, or at least keep them from disappearing with the dead.

So Avestus is basically a less efficient Vetenari. Okay.
Is he the Vaorone? I think he is? I missed that. And we’ve got politics kicking in, with the mention of the guilds coming into power, and their increasing influence vs the Vaorone of the city.
Valencio (Tristan) is an Inspecttore - but what rank.
Spies spies spies! Apparently everywhere in the White spire. K
alden - brother of the missing dude.
We’ll see more of him later.
Also I don’t know any decent amount of Italian, and I can’t guess what the group names mean completely. Best guess: infinite light, the work of the sun, noble something, not a food dish and no bloody idea.
Seimora - six something, which okay, six guilds. Undoubtedly all with spies. All jockeying for power. The walls have ears.
And oooh, the mascherine’s were taxed from the guilds. OOOOOOH.
Wait - those aren’t butterflies.
Bonus - memory ghosts of Cyrus, and a decision that may have led to the drinking.
Side thought - who’s the current leader of the Maskrunners? The guy who was with Cyrus before he went off by himself (bad idea) after Aventus? Lyssandra? Amadea Invincio?
Blue guild - Azus, Azul, Azure.
What does Gavar mean - there isn’t a translation, apparently.
Cicero - Chickpea
Cyrus - farsighted/young/lord.
HMMMMMMMMHi Kalden.
I STILL HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS.
