We’re getting so close to the end, and we’re still basically at square one when it comes to dealing with Reichenbach’s network/program/kill spree

Last episode left us all off in a bad place, with the assassination of Morland Holmes , undoubtedly part of the price of helping the Chinese government…. (how do you reach the unreachable? You go through their obligations)

That situation is a very small reflection of current events going on in Hong Kong right now, which is heartbreaking in too many ways. Could the escalation have been avoided? Maybe. But that horse is well out of the gates now. I’m just worried. Very worried. Authoritarianism doesn’t bend, and can’t be seen to bend, so I think something is going to break.

Also kind of horrible that it happens in the year of a particular 30th anniversary.

Brief political interlude aside, on with the show.

Now that’s some dissociation.

That the second time in a very short period that Joan’s told Sherlock a death isn’t his fault. And tbh, it isn’t. Niether the Conrad’s death, or Morland’s is – Odin’s the one who kills his way out of his problems. Sherlock has tried time and time again to avoid killing people. It’s just his opponent, so to speak, doesn’t play his way.

Aka – is a megalomaniac, conniving son of a weasel. you must account for the psychology of an individual, but sometimes you want to think better of people.

Shit, the safe house is blown too. Freaking fuck.

And oooh, an opening.

Checking out the body, which has been dumped in a ‘stolen’ vehicle.

Remember when I was going on about Sherlock’s nose earlier this season? Now it’s his eagle eyes. (And oh yeah, the ears. Re: the pregnant doctor’s assistant episode)

Sdkfjalefjoweifjasdlf That was close. I’m glad that everyone there is probably shaken up, but ultimately all right.

The investigation will move as it moves

Okay, what is with the declaration of intent? IDK if what Gregson did was a smart move, I like that he takes the chance to make it clear that he doesn’t want his people touched/hurt though

Anyway, now he (Odin) knows that he (Gregson) knows what he (Sherlock) knows…. You know that can get messy and confusing.

There are some problems that have no solutions.
Well yes, and there are some problems which have solutions that aren’t achievable by us in our current state.

Oh, Odin doesn’t believe in no solutions. He’s beaten his Koyabashi Maru. Some people. People are just pawns to him now.

A watch! A very noticeable watch.

That was fast! The whole expensive distinct watch thing is super helpful

Oh, the guy isn’t a likely suspect for a hired gun, but his brother is. And there’s a link

Someone probably tipped Odin off on the lab data? I’m guessing. Which is how he could warn off the guys/hired mercs – they were there at the brother’s house this morning.

WAIT IS THE GUY’S NAME JASON WEBB? As in David Webb AKA Jason Bourne? Oh wait. It’s Jacob. NVM. False alarm. His name took a while to filter through and I got overexcited.

That’s horrible. They’re dead. And incinerated.

Haha, what a fine day for a puzzle quest. /morbidness +2, Grotesque +2

The ME scared me. Eugene is not funny. No. Not funny.

Anyway, lead isn’t as dead as it seems to be? Maybe. The merc group can be traced back to a defunct company

Sherlock! That was a bad pun.

Tch tch tch, NSA guy, how does it feel to not have all the info?

Also his hair seems drastically different. Maybe it’s just a lack of hair product

Prison, not death. A huge different.

Mr. Wentz, the person who was involved in hiring the military company that may have overstepped and led to a whole lawsuit deal.

He’s bankrupt, and the company eventually dissolved. But he might know a few more people who were involved in the company with the dead men.

Marcus: “Old running buddies”

/next scene – Odin jogging in the woods somewhere for a clandestine meeting with McNall

I object to Odin getting more access to people’s emails and info across all those platforms

Data. How like a mathematician.

Threats have gotten him everywhere, and he just keeps falling back on them, is it just me, or does Odin seem angrier

Hunting down more members – going back to Mr. Wentz at chemo, hoping for a face match – but.. what’s this? Wentz is involved with Odin, wtf.

Medical bills? I guess. Also pancreatic cancer often gets discovered late, and it’s not so much recovery, but a matter of seeing how long you last. He’s more capable than he tries to play it.

Among other things. Since he’s also paying for lawyers for Frederick Wentz

Data. Ammo. Different words for the same thing.

According to the DA, it’s a dead end. At least with Wentz.

Desperation is an unflattering shade on anyone. I’m just ready to curl up into a ball and throw blankets on Sherlock. And make tea for Joan. Ugh ugh ugh.

This was the line from the teaser trailer, but what does he mean

Odin’s definitely stepped up his program, and gotten more ruthless at that. Antonia is a bit surprised.

McNally. OMG just quietly fade off into the background why don’t you. Don’t help, but don’t hinder either. Also if he lets Odin have access, I am going to burn his effigy, and poke pins in it.

IDK if Joan’s acting, or it’s part of the plan. How much of the plan did Sherlock share, anyway? But she’s calling the police brigade

It’s Sherlock on the bridge – it’s a fakeout. Funny how he can fake a text to trick Odin, yet the other guy’s the one with the super-interconnected network. How do you tell if a text is spoofed though? Especially if the phone is a clone?

Absolute convictions. Different convictions though. And values.

How do the writers sum up the entirety of my misgivings and hang ups with Odin’s program and ideas, so succinctly. Freedom vs Safety. The choices you make you have to live with. Do youw ant to live free? (And also face the consequences of those actions?) Or do you want to be shepherded through life, culled when said shepherd deems you to be unworthy? That’s enough to scare anybody. I mean, if he’s willing to kill to preserve his program, Odin would definitely start murdering anyone who started speaking against him too, once he got a decent foothold in places he needs/wants access to.

In a sense, McNally could very well also become disposable.

Again, reminds me of Pratchett, Crime can be done in the dark, but punishment must be done in the light. And in a sense, so must justice.

I think Joan was given a different plan. Not so much about the confrontation with Reichenbach, because that was a given, maybe? But certainly the details.

He went. Over the edge. And Marcus wants them to continue searching, even though they’re pushing the limits of what the divers can handle.

So this gets Odin off the streets for now. IDK how much of a case the NYPD can build, but they’ll do their best and they’ll be able to go over everything more closely.

All that blood, oh Joan. Blanket time for you too. And Marcus. Gregson seems like he needs to work some stuff out of his system, but he can join when he’s ready.

Marcus is asking for a lowdown of whether or not it was premeditated, I am conflicted on whether Joan knew that (we have to plan a murder of our own), and is trying to keep it quiet, or is just seriously upset that the idea even came up. And is also dealing with her own grief. I don’t think Sherlock’s death was something she had considered as a possibility

Credit to Marcus as a detective, because that angle will definitely come up if the Morland thing comes to light. I suppose Odin could say that Sherlock blamed him for his father’s death, ha ha, how mad, but then how did they meet? And why? If he wants to go the obsessed madman angle. Some things don’t add up, and require more explanation

I thought that I’d done something weird when the Italian realtor came on.

And Sherlock! He lives! (Thank fuck). I don’t think anyone in NY knows where he is? He’s lucky to have only a broken arm. He doesn’t seem to be too badly injured anywhere else. The blood, some of it could’ve been a squib? It doesn’t seem like he had any sort of tactical armor on, that’s usually pretty bulky, and he seemed to be his usual wrapped up self. IDK

He does look very pale and wan. Yet it doesn’t seem like it’s been too long.

Btw that does seem to be a rather uncomfortable sling.

I’m just… I feel like I’ve fallen and I can’t get up.

ETA: I was hearing faintly, the song from the end of the second episode this season. 88, Elliot Moss.

More importantly ...Cause I'm going to war/Don't hold your breath/waiting for me/No, I may never come home

I've been able to keep up with the whole season thus far, fortunately.
