Closed captioning is my best friend.
Earlier, when this originally aired – the only thing I mentioned was how “OMG Sherlock”, was the one phrase I kept repeating throughout the entirety of the episode. That one phrase, so flexible to cover the whole range of things that go on in the episode. Anyway, here goes:

Getting in trouble vs doing the moral thing. A hard decision, especially given that the person in question is black. It’s easy to get blam<cut>ed for things.
Captain’s in a bad place with those injuries. GSW (gun shot wounds) are deceptively simple injuries, aren’t they?
Anyway, Joan! Got here as fast as she could! To visit and to investigate.
Aw, they’ve missed each other, and it’s nice to hear it. Though yes, bad circumstances.

OMG Sherlock #1. In the brownstone, and not in London at all, like I’d assumed, and Joan had said.
Anyway, all the utilities are out because no one’s been in the house. And Wiggins is the guy who’s been responsible for it? Did we ever meet them?
It’s nice to be back. (And yes, agree with not having Lin sell the place. At least not as of yet.)
I do have to wonder, with Marcus turning down the training period, will that mean his chance to join the Marshalls will also go away? Though these circumstances are understandable. (More later)
A lot of tubes there on Capt. Gregson.
I really feel sorry for Paige though, waiting. And getting that call, when she was expecting him to be telling her he was headed home, safely.
Cool that they’re married now though!
The wheelchair Paige has does seem to be the basic non-customized kind, so it was probably a more recent event where she had to start seriously relying on it to get around. But I may be wrong.
OMG Sherlock #2 because he’s lying down in the middle of a street.
The interrogation method he uses with Tremaine to try to trigger a detail from when he found Gregson is…. Workable, but it takes getting used to. At least the teen is compensated for his time? Even if it’s a frustrating and bewildering hour.
Still no utilities, and no furniture.
Cots were acquired. (I’m in agreement with Joan, I would worry if they were second hand or not, but that’s because I’ve had incidences with bed bugs before. NOT FUN)
Anyway, new info points towards a new location: a baseball field. All from a smear of reddish dirt
OMG #3. Sherlock and his bloody nose. (I think I would be able to pick this scent up if someone pointed it out.) I am jealous.
I’m glad it easy to identify the body though. An extreme stroke of luck that he was a missing persons. Decomposed bodies can be hard to identify, especially if there aren’t any leads on where to start looking.
The dead man’s mom has a cop ex-husband, who seems to be a good lead, until he gets into the interrogation room, that is. A lot of what Tim Bledsoe had done had been swept under the rug by his dad. Drugs, fights, vandalism, car theft…
It does turn up more leads.
All those hidden crimes.
All the new suspects paint a picture that the guy was troubled, with emotion management issues, and overreactions to situations.
What’s a ‘trench coat’ kid?
Also friend? Apparently a surprise, except that his previous professor didn’t think that Tim would be the first to get into trouble between the two of them
The segue into a serious talk on why Sherlock’s back in the States, despite the prison sentence – good points there. He won’t forget the fact that Gregson chose Hannah over Joan, but it’s the right thing to do. Given how the Captian has been doing, that he should take the chance to see Gregson too, while he’s at it, in case he won’t be able to… man, that hurts.
It’s true though, sometimes you do seemingly useless things, because it’s what will be best for yourself, not someone else that is involved.
Note: unconscious people may still be able to pick up some of what’s going on in their surroundings, right? Or was that just people in a coma?
Gotta look that up. And there is some degree of awareness, though it would vary depending on a person's condition.
Also my heart hurts.
OMG #4. That foot to the wrist. I also wasn't that.
Of course, the friend is a lead that doesn’t quite give them what they’re expecting. Didn’t know he was dead, apparently. But he was still angry over Tim stealing his car, that seemed like a possible motive.
“On Thursday, I was dead!” In the happiest tones I’ve ever heard someone say. It get’s Dylan off the hook though, since the hospital that revived him from the OD would have records.
They can look at Dylan’s car! To see what Tim’s last days were like. A car left in the Bronx, with a trunk full of fertilizer.
And upon examination by Sherlock and Joan… blasting caps. To blow up a passenger ferry. Tim was definitely getting mixed up in a lot of bad business.
Yeah, Joan doesn’t want to talk to the Feds.
But his mom though. Maybe they need to push a little harder.
His mom, his mom really wants to see Tim as her kid again, to the point where she’ll rather jump through mental hoops than believe he could do seriously bad things.
OMG #5 – Sherlock visits Gregson. /Screams
Sherlock! No. Bad. Too soon.
No shooting jokes.
Also Paige comes in towards the end, misses the bit that would be incriminating re: Hannah, but she does hear Sherlock forgive him.
This is a heavy conversation. My heart still hurts.
Tim’s mom’s visa bill is enlightening.
And it’s good that Marcus gets to review the security footage too, since it points to their culprit. (Who only he met).
Pat Meers. War vet. Got into a fight with Tim at a bar ways back.
They send an armed team, but resorts to talking first. Which is a relief. The arrest still looks pretty painful.
So his dad interfering with due process lead to an escalation? Because the justice system was circumvented… that doesn’t sound familiar at all!
Pretty neat story, tidy too! Except that Joan and Marcus call his bluff re: knowing about the car bomb in the back.
Not that they can charge him, since he’s got a superb record wrt to behaviour. The police department wants to close the case like that.
Oh hey, now they’re talking about domestic terrorism cells! Both for Tim, and for Patrick Meers!
So this case is technically closed.
OMG #6 – suggesting Joan stay when she mentions packing for their car to the airport? A big deal Sherlock!
And they’re going to part? Because no way is Joan wanting Sherlock to go to jail. And I guess Sherlock has been thinking about this for a good bit of time. Brooding over it. Like some mother hen.
(The music is rocking, btw. 99, Elliot Moss is a great song. I've already listened to it over and over again several times.)
And then he goes and turns himself in? WTF OMG #7 btw.
Oh man, that guy in line behind Sherlock. His face.

There’s no way people won’t hear about his arrest/that he gave himself up, right? Right?
Also re: Marcus not going to training, where is his arc going, I wonder? Will he then go to the next available window of Marshall training? Or is he out?
And I miss next week’s live episode because I’m going out. Ugh, will have to wait till Sunday then. Or later.
What is with this season’s endings and playing with my emotions?
I don’t want to go to work Saturday now.

Date: 2019-06-03 07:41 pm (UTC)lol, I thought the same thing. I know it's a heavy episode and there's so much else to say about it but... at the end, even with such a dramatic and confusing twist, I also had to laugh at the way that dude just behind him was like "Oh. huh. A wanted man turning himself in for murder. That's something you don't see every day."
