paradigm_shift: Dragon dragging the night behind it (Wings of night)
[personal profile] paradigm_shift
I started this thing forever ago. Finally picking it back up again?

Disclaimer: I sort of know what’s going on with RE 1, given what’s been memed or seeped into pop culture. Typos will abound, and I likely won’t fix them. I don’t know if I’ll do the ‘ask questions about future events mere moments before they happen’ bit again, but it may.

Video 1 [ 10 mins ]
I am very sure that it was suggested that I see the remastered walk through instead, but then I would’ve missed out on the cheese.

References to RE:0, which was made after this I think? But anyway, we at least know what happened to some of Bravo team.

Bad dog? Bad dogs?

The noise effects are loud, and the acting is hilariously overdone/hammed/very exaggerated.

Why does their chopper leave, and why can’t they call it back? Was it a STAR chopper? Or just a ride – like ‘okay guys, here you are, I’m heading the heck out before I get shot down or something. ‘

Character intros: Why do we need to know character bloodtypes?

The who live action opening/interspersed into gameplay footage is kind of jarring.

Oh, this is a Jill playthrough btw

Bye Wesker – go off and ‘wander’ alone while the other two look for Chris

Did I mention the sound effects were overbearing? Tick tick tick tick tick…

Ah yes, I shall examine a puddle of blood for clues. Now we know why we’ve got blood types, if only we carried typing kits with us, we can tell for sure.

First zombie encounter is um, underwhelming. Not the creepy headturn part, but the hey, we see Jill shooting around a wall. And that’s it. Keeping in mind this was made in 1996.
(the doors are good, they cancel noise of the ticks, as do zombie groans apparently)

Always split up. And now they can’t find their errant captain too. Though at least there’s a plan. Sort of . Let’s look around the first floor first in this huge gigantic mansion. Of course.
Someone got their A levels in lock picking? If they’re a master of unlocking, why don’t they have their own set?

Video 2 [ 10 min ]
The transitions are going to suck.
Oh! It’s a map, it’s a map, oh it’s a maaaaap~

Bio question time: how does the virus affect the decomp process? Because I’m not sure that blood is just blood. As in, I don’t think there’s anything left uncongealed in the vessels and therefore, must include decomposed bodily fluids and other things. I mean, it’s not like rigor mortis is an issue anymore, and even that stops after a time.

And that is the pointiest dog I’ve seen in my life.
Projectile dog, go go go? They launch in through windows

The ceiling’s coming down? And the doors are locked? Whatever will we do Master of unlocking????? Use the lockpicks? MAYBE? UNLOCK THE DOOR

Or ask Barry for help. Since he is serendipitously on the other side.
Yes Barry, why are you here? And not in the dining room? What do you know
Why are you checking down random halls?

WHAT’S GOING ON?*

*by which we question the personal agendas of everyone involved

CROWS!!!!!!!!!!! ♥

Also yes, push ALL the switches.
All of them. So satisfying

Did you trigger something with finding the star crest? Cause the music changed Nothing realy happened though

Video 2 [ 10 min ] We save.

I’m actually pretty glad there are so few zombies to deal with.

The botany books sounds like it could be a fun alchemical sidequest, but it isn’t.
And there aren’t as many combos as it implies either. 

Barry: I found a powerful weapon!
Jill: but what about you?
Me: yes, but what about you? Did you bring enough for everybody?
Barry: I have this *indicates whatever he’s carrying*
Jill: sure, okay. *Leaves*
Me: …

Also they really should equip their team with disposable gloves what with all the blood, and viscera. And zombies. And a mask. Good thing none of this disease is air transmissible. Just bites/direct application to wounds?)

Aw crows, no. pecking people to death? Well, I guess they’re trespassing first D: As long as dead teammate doesn’t come back to bite us in the dark.

Also there have to be a lot of hidden tracks, or something in this house, how else do statues, etc move so easily (are people just that strong?)

Off to a slow start. IDK, the 10 min parts may not be working as well for me. But it definitely is a challenge to stay immersed v.s. some other games. It's too easy to get distracted/distance yourself from what's happening given the stiltedness, but I forgive much given the times and technological changes that have happened.
