Thursday was great. I stayed up too late watching it but it's okay! I lived another day.
In which true crime buffing takes on multiple levels of relevance. Or, you know, paying attention to real life news and current events?

I’d recognized the actress’s face from the preview stills, but for the life of me couldn’t place her name. Or what was it that she did. Only that she was an antagonist. I needed that review.
The opening case, I knew the specific crime it was cribbing from (though again, the details escaped me), but credit to stardust-rain (tumblr) for digging up an article about the case in question It’s a wild read.
And hey, cases from overseas – glad to see they’re going ahead with the let’s work in two continents thing
The rest under cut:
Who wouldn’t be nervous about a random person you once helped arrest showing up at your house? Especially one who’s great at lying. (WHICH REMINDS ME – of a Robert Ludlum novel, the Ambler Warning? Where the main character is very, very good at reading people. Except that he’s part of the action A plot, while a quiet B-plot chugs quietly along in the background.)
Look, I’ve been sitting out here a long time, can I come in and I’ll explain why I’m here?”
*Zoom in on those faces*

Lenue, LNU. Last name unknown Wow.
Also Cassie. As in Cassandra. How many famous Cassandras can you think of?
…Can she hire them? Well, yes. But also it’s still weird. I mean, thanks for the vote of confidence?
I spent the entirety of this episode dancing on the knife edge of doubt, because you know she’s good, but you can’t help but hope. You want her to be genuine, because helping people, but you can’t trust her as far as I can throw her (not much).
Caution, too much, or not enough? Though at least they haven’t tried to put a tracker on her.
“Wouldn’t want to make a liar out of her.” The irony in that statement hurts. It’s a good thing Judd has nothing whatsoever to do with Cassie’s own habits.
Baby formula! That’s her current business – and guess what – apparently also related to a real life crime, not that I knew it until I saw a comment I’ve since lost. IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN, PLEASE POINT ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION. THANK YOU
Multiple people are investigating Heather Foley’s murder, or rather, the baby formula sources. Since they were stolen goods. State police and local police unite?
Interesting tactic, but I can see how it works. Criminal informants are made this way.
The local police are happy to get new eyes, since they want to close the case, and have hit a wall
Oh man, to a kid who has been in the foster system forever, it really must seem like what she can learn about Sherlock’s past is a golden goose of a life
We know a bit better, but then again, he doesn’t deny that he’s had certain advantages and privileges throughout his life, but hell if he would just share that with her.
Set a liar to catch a liar, or rather, someone who is very well versed in reading body language, and suppressing ticks/acting.
She’s been pretty isolated her whole life, hasn’t she?
That’s a huge twist to try and pull off, though now I wonder ages and timelines of how that would’ve worked out.
Sherlock is very blasé about being Cassie’s target, probably because he’d worked out the why
THIS ENTIRE EXCHANGE!!!! /rolls
Nobody leaves the mob. (Snitches get stitches? Fatally, in this case)
Though they now have to ID a new suspect. And maybe there was someone they’d missed in their search
Huge, huge place for security camera footage watching.
Cash vouchers for moms who need baby food, good idea. Court though?
Though I guess that makes some sense? Not everyone has to buy, so it brings up the prices because supply is lower thanks to the redemption of eligible moms? But taking them away possibly
The successful takedown of the crime ring would’ve affected the vote away from giving out the subsidies… I have a hard time following the money thanks for laying it out.
The British folks? They wanted to con a guy?
Things we don’t see: what Everybody asked for this time to look through Leehoven’s records.
Preventative maintanence Now to work that as a pun into something! /bricked
Oh no, Cassie. What are you doing?
(Also $2 million feels like change from someone who has a successful supermart empire, even if its local)
The framing does give away the fact that Sherlock is going to confront her about her visit to Leehoven
Hey, she has questionable methods and played to her strengths. Sherlock’s done similar things in the past.
Seriously, I’m just ping pong-ing all over the place over Cassie.
It’s a trap! And it works, though Farrad is so disappointed that the State police guy is responsible. So disappointed. Set up a plant? The guy had to have gotten the idea from somewhere.

It’s not Joan’s idea, she wants them to know and understand that, and also, she doesn’t want to know except that she probably does. And they can probably guess.
Anyway, time to see where this goes? No?
I also thought that Sherlock would’ve done something re: her parents. Especially since I believe records like that are sealed and never released.
The name thing is cool though.
Ending notes: Are we tying up past ends? Are we going to see the kid from Rat Race too? (1x02, I think) Detective Gina? Alfredo? Randy?
This is the show’s final season, I wonder how many links to episodes/seasons past they’ll try to fit in?
Also we’ve also sort of almost hit 150 eps of Elementary already? I think 7x09 or 7x10 is the one what will hit the mark so ahhhhhh?

Sherlock: I invented a role for myself, I found a way to take my difference and turn it into something I could use to contribute.
Cassie: Say you’re right about me. I want to change. I want to ‘contribute’. You’re saying I have to become a detective.
Sherlock: No, that was my solution. No doubt, yours will be different.
Cassie: So what do I become?
Sherlock: I have no idea. But if you really want to be a better person I could help you figure it out.”

Gregson: And how did this all get set up?
Watson: It was Sherlock and Cassie’s idea.

It’s not Joan’s idea, she wants them to know and understand that, and also, she doesn’t want to know except that she probably does. And they can probably guess.
