This is a double feature, since I got around to writing up 7x06 late in the week last time. I am not very enamored with Reichanbach and 7x06 continues to do nothing to make me warm up to him. That said, the actor is very good.

The usual case of watching as the episides air on Thursday, with a captioned stream later applies.

7x06 Command: delete

Hello breach of privacy. This is how big brother was developed.

This is a big question, does the end always justify the means? The guy has so much blood indirectly on his hands – because he decided to act. But you do have to ask how sure was he that the expressions in a ‘private’ space is absolutely what someone will do? Haven’t there been entire shows and movies devoted to this premise? And most of them are dystopian.

Marcus’ side of things… PTSD? Uh oh. Plus firearms. Not just any firearm, a possible sniper rifle Oh no

That’s an extreme way of destroying old phones, on the other hand – bugs

“I can’t believe that he thinks the best way to prevent crime is to monitor what people say and look at on the internet. I mean, no one is on their best behavior online”

So they’re splitting their focuses up – Joan to Marcus, to both help his current ‘case’/friend and Sherlock to the NSA. Doesn’t he owe them a favor still?

I am so called out right now. Re: passwords

Cue: The internet is for porn

And stuff is now in the works

So the sniper-friend is on a pigeon roost somewhere, and was being blackmailed because of porn. Well, he’s IN porn. To scare a man.

Who was under guard in the particular hotel room. Oh no.

Apparently the guards left, even without the shot, because they pay attention, and a police arrest? Not great.

And they’re all dead. :(

Oh hey, let’s break in and try to drug a guy. That also wouldn't fly with a decent ethics committee btw. He'll have to bullshit a lot of stuff if he wants to get published in the more public circles. (remember that whole engineered baby thing last year? Like that)

BIG PHARMA. Good thing they guy can afford cutting edge pills/be on trial. That said, who knows what side effects he could’ve discovered.

… the doc has the moral backbone of a bar of butter on a hot summer day.

Also I could probably just scream wordlessly about ethics in research, but I won’t

Also needles, yeah people get sick of those

Genetics! One of my worse subjects. Mutaution for burning fat ⇉ muscle.

But super marketable gene therapy. Possibly

… the spread is bugs. Well, it’s not horrible.

The NSA has super sekret methods of recording. Yep yep yep Gotta get actual hard evidence. Hmmm Just reminds me of ‘cybercrime’

So his adoptive mother’s house was also broken into and his medical records are gone? As well as old photos

The head detective standing in for Gregson is very, very… abrupt? with his time

Ah, civet coffee

Who knew there was such a thing as a coffee expert to this degree.

$500.00 a pound?

The coffee in some scanned photos? Worth that much? Holy cows on a bicycle Guess if someone made the connection and reached out, or Baron did it himself, that would be a very lucrative connection. Enough to kill over. It’s a missing heir mystery. I wonder what kind of con you could pull with that?

Oh hey, addressing some of the things I mentioned earlier. They’ll work with him? Sort of, under their own terms?

The other possible heir is a baby?

Oh, the endocrinologist’s assistant. Wow? Like that’s something I wouldn’t have thought people would do, but then again. People.

McNally, No. Bad. I mean, I understand his reasonings, but well, in some ways, it’s a deal with the devil.

And let’s just say that declaration of love last season? Should not be the call to have open season on Sherlock’s connections. Especially Joan.

Can we stop it with men who like to play god? Please?

Lafjweifjsdef SHERLOCK Also the flat way he says it, like he’s quoting something. Ugh, ugh ugh. It’s hard to read people when they do that, isn’t it?

7x97: From Russia with Drugs

From the start – it’s a James Bond reference! That I know only by title because let’s face it – when it comes to Bond, there’s not many films I’ve actually gone to see, and most of them are the Craig ones. So I don’t’ know if there are any homages or references to the movie.

BUT – I really did first see Lucy Liu in Lucky Number Slevin, and there’s a throwaway bit of dialogue for the Bond films so… there’s that? It’s a stretch, but what isn’t with me, some days.

Seriously not liking how I always frame those speeches into OH NO WHO DIED ones. And so far, it’s been two this season, and both from Dwyer.

Knowing what’s coming, I’m looking at the faces in the crowd – and the responses of the people there. The women, especially. ]

Also who needs a shield that big, seriously.

Hmmm

Is that good gun safety? IDK I don’t use guns, but the whole thunking it on the table.

NGL, I judge over the money trail to bed thing. Not so much to the corpse, but you know that was never what he’d intended. Gosh Janice, sorry about this surprise.

There’s a DVD club? Cute.

It’s good to know I’m not the only one who thought Sherlock’s reaction via Scrooge McDuck was cute. From the tumblr gifsets, anyway.

Dineen, I’ll try to remember that.

And Elementary always pulls material from current topics – re: fentanyl ODs – if you want to know more, I have some (regional) stuff – but for sure it is considered a Crisis.

Sort of a antihero figure – stealing money from the crooks. It’s a dangerous line of work

‘Contact High’ He saw the chance, he went for it.

I hope Janice is seeing someone for the trauma

There can be as much scientific evidence out there as people want, but it’s trapped behind paywalls, and people who don’t have experience with that kind of thing will believe what they want, no matter how well reasoned, or educated. Even against expert advice. Fear has strong roots. And well… sideeyes the antivax movement. which definitely wasn't a ploy for profit in the first place and now look where we are Sighs

Nocebo effect, something new I learned.

Look, there’s no way the guy owns a cat. No matter if you think he’s the most negligent guy on the planet. Because cats – they will LET YOU KNOW when they want food, attention, litter cleaning, etc. And they won’t rest until you pay attention to them.

There’s dirt on Dwyer, but also brings up an issue of inappropriate behaviour with male cops re: women in general, including co-workers

Regrouping, updating, and now, new perspective.

Marcus does a lot of OT, working with Sherlock and Joan

Really did anyone think Marcus or Gregson wouldn’t at least try to follow up on the Meers thing? Don’t know how long Sherlock or Joan can play them off, though it seems to have worked for now – enough for Marcus to drop the topic

I’ve never actually seen a narcotics test kit before, and those are pretty neat. Dipsticks!

Blaming the Russians? It’s sounding more like a conspiracy theory – but hey, you have to spy on your allies as much as your enemies.

HOW DID HE EVEN GET INTO THE SCHOOL? Don’t you have to sign visitors in or something?

Though yeah, it’s nice to see her making the best of her life? I also want to know what book that was.

Kolokol-1 is a trigger word. Enough to get a modicum of cooperation

The talk between Gregson and Dwyer? Does not go well from the start once Bree’s name is brought up.

I mean, anger as a offensive defense. Though the fact that he goes and asks what Novacek does ring certain bells.

More art related career people! I keep trying to figure out what those tapestries hanging on the wall are

They’re likely pictoral recreations of actual pieces, I think

Anyway, they find their next lead there, and it’s a old, worn down building with basically one safe in it.

… That’s a super complicated system but still familiar.

What’s charcuterie? Oh. OH, that looks great.

See

From the above site

Though yeah, that’s not what we’re here for, I guess.

Ah, because there’s another Person of Interest involved. One with dangerous secrets. Voynov, a top scientist who knows how to make kolokol-1

And he made some (probably). For that, he must die.

Like punctuality, no motion is wasted in espionage. Old habits.

The explosion is huge, and seems a bit dramatic – but it definitely killed the man.

/sorry I am still screaming too much over this segment between Novacek and Gregson to really be coherent – because it’s so freaking true. The bells earlier? There’s an internal, automatic flip over into Us vs Them. I just, I don’t think, well, it’s stupidly uncomfortable to sit through and realize just how little you can do about it sometimes.

The Russian mob is called the Bratva.

They have a long reach, and longer memories, cross them not? So, don’t knock off their shops and rob them? Otherwise death?

But there are still pieces missing, because there keeps being odd people out in their theories.

Sherlock! No. Sherlock, no lockpicking.

New art pieces! One is very green, I think the varnish may need to be redone. Or IDK, they have to cook it in their special detergent

So it is all about the Money.

.. Lady Godiva? Oh, the cat

I do like seeing the resolution to the whole thing with Dwyer re: Novacek being able to report him to the EEO – though it is just a small part of a larger picture still it has to mean something right?

It’s a nice note to end on? The wagon thing is still going to happen, but I don’t know where andhow those dominoes will fall.

It also almost felt like a test. That question about whether that breach of privacy would be enough to ruin someone’s career. (I mean, depending on who saw, it would’ve certainly be enough to ruin her career, but how often does that reflect back onto whoever found and passed it around, really?)

Now I’m wondering about the possible lady cop that could’ve replaced Gregson. And Gina. How things might have played out with them? Not that I think Joan and Sherlock would’ve continued to work with the 9th. I guess that’s speculation and fodder for fanworks.

We're almost done with this season. It's going to be odd with nothing to watch.
